STUDENTS

Holiday spirit week is all this week. Show your Trojan spirit by dressing up for each of the following days: Today is Bring Your Own Sleigh (anything but a backpack), tomorrow is Ugly Holiday Sweater Day, Thursday is Class Colors Day (Freshmen elves wear green, sophomore reindeer wear brown, junior snowmen wear white, and senior santas wear red), and Friday is Holiday PJ Day.

Seniors! Your 25-26 Senior Scholarship Folder is due on December 19, 2025--complete or almost complete! Please make sure you have it in the folder or binder.

The CMC Greenleaf Scholarship Application 2026 is Open! Applications are due on February 28, 2026, at 11:59 PM. There's nothing to lose when you apply for the CMC Greenleaf Scholarship! Winner and finalists will receive free college money—don't miss this opportunity!

Trojans! Please help support our National Honor Society by donating toys or canned goods or non-perishable food items.  All donations are going to support Unity Home of the Hi-Desert.  There are donation boxes in the main office or you can drop them off in F5 with Mr. Seacat.  A little bit of giving an make a huge difference for families in our community that need a little extra love and support. Thank you!!

GATE Students: Please stop by L6 to retrieve a permission slip for the CSU Fullerton field trip taking place on January 12. Permission slips are due January 7.

Coding Club has available seats.  This club meets on Thursdays at CMC, and bussing from YVHS and home (if you ride the bus) is available.  A drone section was added to the line-up.  Please see Mr. Collins in Q2 for additional details. 

Seniors:  If you have not submitted your Diploma Name Verification Form to the Counseling Office or your English teacher, do so immediately.  The deadline is December 18. 

Permission slips for Grad Nite are available in the ASB office. A permission slip & school ID will be needed to purchase a ticket. This is a Senior Only event.

Juniors! It's that time again to apply for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. RYLA is an intensive leadership       experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts during which you develop leadership skills while having fun and making connections. Check your email or come to Counseling office to see Ms. Happy for the application. The deadline to submit applications is this Friday, December 19. 

The 2026 California Retired Teachers Association Scholarship is now open and due on April 17, 2026. This scholarship is for Seniors planning to attend Copper Mountain College. Award is $1,000. Go to counseling office for details.

The 2026 Edison Scholars Program application is due on January 22, 2026. To be eligible, students must plan to enroll in a STEM major at a four-year university. Up to thirty (30) awards of $12,500 per year, totaling $50,000 over four years, will be granted.

Seniors! It's another local scholarship you don't want to miss! The 2026 Raymond E. Smith and Colonel Liston Scholarship! It’s free money for college, and the award is $500! Check your Synergy email for application info, or see Ms. Happy in the counseling office.

SPORTS

Interested in becoming part of the YVHS Swim team? Our season warm ups will begin on January 6. Be sure to have your athletic clearance cleared, and we will see out there!

If you played Girls Tennis this season and have a racket, please return all equipment to Ms. Destiny.

Track and Field will be starting soon. See Coach Gay in F1A to sign up if you want to participate as an athlete or manager.

Interested in playing softball?  Tryouts will be January 6 through January 14, from 3-5 p.m. on the high school field.  All physicals must be turned in prior to trying out.  See you there!
