STUDENTS:
Good morning, Trojans! ASB invites you to this year’s prom, “A Tale as Old as Time,” happening on May 16, 2026 from 7 to 11 PM at the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs. Ticket prices are $90 from April 15 to April 30, and $100 from May 1 to May 13. Out-of-school guest tickets are $120 from March 16 to May 7. Don’t wait—prices go up, so make sure to get your tickets early. We hope to see you there!
Students, the staff parking lot is only for staff members, visiting guests, and parents. Please, do not park in any of the staff parking lots. The student parking lot has more than enough parking spots for students to use. If you arrive late, you are to park on the street. If you are caught parking in the staff parking lot at any time until the end of the year, you will receive after school detention.
The library will be closed Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7, with the exception of 1st period. The closure includes both lunches. If you need to return books, please do so during 1st period.
True Colors GSA meets every Thursday in V-2 after school. Come hang out with like-minded individuals, discuss issues, play games and craft. Allies and LGBTQ welcome.
Juniors and Seniors! Prom is coming up, and if you are on the no-go list for owing library items, now is the time to get everything taken care of! Remember, you will not be admitted to Prom if you are missing anything! Also, if you are taking an underclassman, they will be denied entry as well if they owe anything. Be sure to see Ms. Lisa in the library to either return the items or, if you no longer have the items, get information on what to do next.
Freshmen and Sophomores! If you are missing any items from YVHS or any other district site, remember that you are on the no-go list. Being on this list will prohibit you from participating in any activities at YVHS, including, but not limited to, sports, dances, etc. Remember that some sports are already preparing for next school year.
ASB is hosting a Blood Drive May 6th. Please sign up in ASB to secure your spot. Get a Starbucks gift card and help save lives.
Attention CMC RISE Program completers! Please submit the completed CMC RISE Rally Field Trip Permission Slip you received to the Counseling Office no later than Friday, May 1, 2026. Thank you!

Great News--We have added another Saturday School for May. Our next Saturday School is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, and then again on Saturday, May 9. Saturday School is an excellent way for students to recoup absences, get off the no go list as well as use the time to catch up on any missing work. One session of Saturday School clears one full absence. Please sign up with the Attendance Office to reserve your spot.
On Friday, May 1st, the PBIS incentive cart will be open during both lunches in front of the cafeteria. Come trade in your PRIDE tickets for some fun prizes!!
SPORTS:
Last Thursday the Trojan Swim team swam against 29 Palms in the annual Swim Bell Meet. The Trojans crushed the Wildcats; the boys’ score was 128-28 and the girls’ was 120-20. With the win, both the boys and girls secure undefeated Desert Valley League Championships. This is the boy's 5th straight undefeated league championship and the girl's 3rd. Yesterday was the Desert Valley League Finals. The swim team took home over half of the individual championships available, finishing no lower than 2nd in all the rest of the events. Individual League Champions include Amanda Miranda in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke, Theodore Williams in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, Bryan Jones in the 100 Breaststroke, Luke Terrell in the 100 Backstroke, Seth Mauk in the 100 Butterfly, and William Treas in the 200 Freestyle, as well as the Boys 200 Medley Relay Team and 200 Freestyle Relay Team, and the girls 200 Freestyle Relay Team. Are you planning to wrestle next year? If you are, the wrestling team will be starting practice at school in the wrestling room next Tuesday, May 5, and will be holding practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:10pm to 4pm, for all of May and the first week of June. You will need to bring practice clothes and have a current sports physical and athlete clearance. If you have questions, please email Coach Francis or talk to him in room G-8 or the wrestling room.
