On behalf of the Board of Education and executive staff, I’d like to welcome you back to the 2023-2024 school year. I trust your summer has been enjoyable, renewing, adventurous, and interwoven with fun and relaxation; reinvigorating you all for the beginning of what will be a terrific school year.
Morongo USD staff has been busy this summer completing facilities and technology projects, offering our Extended Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP), finalizing staff hiring, putting the finishing touches on getting our schools ready for everyone’s return and providing professional development for all staff.
As we enter the 2023-24 school year, we are excitedly preparing to incorporate our tag line into all that we do – “Our Students. Our Community. Our Future.” We are eager to see the many diverse and creative ways our students will demonstrate their wonder, discovery, voice and talents as we lay the foundation for our future. I have complete confidence the results will inevitably advance our community making it a better place for all.
I look forward to personally visiting each classroom as we welcome all our new and returning students. I have no doubt this year will be complete with academic and personal successes and many memorable experiences.
One of our goals this year is to ensure every student attend school regularly. Chronic absenteeism negatively impacts learning to such a degree that we recognize it as a top priority, second only to student safety. Teachers, administrators and counselors can offer student support and programs to improve attendance, but parent involvement makes all the difference in ensuring regular student attendance. Together we can make school attendance a community priority so that all our students achieve success!
I am confident that with everyone’s support in our school community, the best is yet to come. My best wishes for a successful 2023-2024 school year. Go MUSD!
With students in mind,
Patricio I. Vargas, Ph.D.
