PLUS Program Mission:
If we model, encourage and teach positive, neighborly expectations, then we will create a safe environment where students are inspired and willing to put in the effort to achieve their goals and have hope for the future.
How Are Students Placed At PLUS?
PLUS is a program within MUSD and not a separate school. All students are still connected to their home school or SOR (School of Record) while attending PLUS. Students are placed at PLUS through an IEP team decision because of their severe social, emotional and behavior needs. If you think PLUS is an appropriate placement for your child, talk to their IEP case carrier. The case carrier will speak to the school psychologist about your concern.
What is Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)?
Along with academics, PLUS has a strong emphasis on social emotional learning. SEL enhances a student’s ability to apply skills, attitudes, and behaviors to daily situations in order to deal effectively with challenges.
The PLUS program focuses on student strengths while building new skills. Students have the opportunity to practice new skills in a socially and academically safe environment.
