As part of Month of the Military Child, students at Twentynine Palms Elementary School had the chance to explore military vehicles and meet the heroes who serve right here in our community.

A huge thank you to our local Marines for providing this unique experience for our students — and for the continued service and sacrifice of all our military families.

Have you seen the Signs of Courage? These signs were created last year by 6th grade students in the MUSD and are on display for the next month at Freedom Plaza. We're so proud of our amazing student artists and the longstanding partnership we've had with Groundwork Arts. Groundwork Arts teaching artists visit our classrooms. In this project they taught students how to transform their thoughts and ideas into powerful visual statements. They explored messaging, graphic imagery, typeface, color and shape, creating 509 unique, hand-painted signs. Thirty-eight of these signs were chosen by peers, teachers and Groundwork Arts staff to be printed as large-scale art signs.
